I opened the case, cleaned the dust off, and took pictures. The banjo sat in its case for many years. Relatives told me the previous owner loved the beauty of of this, but never learned to play. I bought this banjo with a few other instruments from an estate. ![]() I took it off and replaced it with rope for convenience. The only flaw I can find is the leather handle was broken on one side. The frets have no indentations at all and the head is squeaky clean. I cannot find any scratches, bumps or evidence of playwear at all. The mother of pearl neck markers and headstock inlay are perfect! The geared tuners work perfectly. The hand carved heel was rumored to take 22 hours by the best Japanese carvers. This might be the most beautiful instrument I have ever seen! The inlay around the Brazilian rosewood resonator and up the neck is stunning. ![]()
